জনপ্রিয় বাঙ্গালী ঔপন্যাসিক নীহাররঞ্জন গুপ্ত পিতার কর্মসূত্রে ভারতের কলকাতায় জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। নড়াইল জেলা শহর থেকে মাত্র ১৮ কিলোমিটার দূরে লোহাগড়া উপজেলার ইতনা গ্রামে তাঁর পৈত্রিক নিবাসের (Nihar Ranjan Gupta Family House) অবস্থান। প্রায় ৭০ শতক জায়গার উপর নির্মিত গাছগাছালিতে ঘেরা দ্বিতল বাড়ির উত্তর দিকের দোতালা অংশে বারান্দাসহ তিনটি কক্ষ ও একটি মন্দির এবং দক্ষিণের একতালা অংশে ৭টি কক্ষ ও খিলানযুক্ত সরু বারান্দা রয়েছে। ভবনের প্রতিটি কক্ষে আছে একাধিক কুলঙ্গী ও দেয়াল আলমারি। নীহাররঞ্জন গুপ্তের বাড়ির দরজা, জানালা ও দেয়াল আলমারিতে কাঠের কারুকার্যময় ফুল ও লতাপাতার অলংকরণ বাড়িটিকে আরও আকর্ষণীয় করে তুলেছে। বাড়ির সামনে দিকে একটি পুকুর রয়েছে।
Popular Bengali novelist Nihar Ranjan Gupta was born in Kolkata, India, due to his father’s job. His ancestral residence (Nihar Ranjan Gupta Family House) is located in Itna village of Lohagara Upazila, just 18 kilometers away from Narail district town. Built on about 70 decimals of land and surrounded by trees, the two-story house has three rooms with a veranda and a temple on the upper floor of the northern side, and 7 rooms with a narrow arched veranda on the ground floor of the southern side. Each room in the building has multiple niches and wall cupboards. The carved wooden floral and vine decorations on the doors, windows, and wall cupboards of Nihar Ranjan Gupta’s house make it even more attractive. There is a pond in front of the house.
