Located in Doserpara village of Sirajdikhan upazila in Munshiganj district, Padmahema Dham is an ashram dedicated to Fakir Lalon Shah. Although Lalon never actually set foot in this picturesque place known as a Baul house, Prothom Alo photojournalist Kabir Hossain built this ashram out of his devotion to Lalon. Surrounded by shady, serene natural environments and filled with the chirping of birds, visitors to Padmahema Dham are immediately greeted by a massive stone ektara, one of Lalon’s signature symbols. Amidst the enchanting nature, you will also notice Munshiganj’s traditional two-story wooden house, a meeting room, and a Lalon geeti school. The Ichamati River flows past the ashram, taking three bends to create a wonderful confluence. Therefore, standing on the riverbank near the ashram to watch the sunrise and sunset is a deeply enjoyable experience. Groups of Bede (river nomads) living on boats can frequently be seen traveling along the Ichamati River. Camping and staying overnight are permitted at Padmahema Dham.
