The border river ‘Rangpani’ is located in the Sreepur area of Sylhet. The crystal-clear water of Rangpani originates from the Ranhongkong Waterfall in the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya. To many, it is also known as the ‘Sreepur Stone Quarry’. The Khasi village of Mokampunji is situated on the banks of the Rangpani River. The Khasis refer to their villages as punjis. In the 1980s and 1990s, many Bengali films were shot in and around Rangpani and the punji. Besides the popular song ‘O Amar Jaan, Tor Bashi Jeno Jadu Jane Re’ from the Naim-Shabnaz duo’s debut film ‘Chandani’, several scenes were filmed at various locations in Sreepur.
