নড়াইল জেলা সদর থেকে ১২ কিলোমিটার দূরে মাছিমদিয়া গ্রামে বিশ্ব বরেণ্য চিত্রশিল্পী এস এম সুলতানের স্মৃতি সংরক্ষণের উদ্দেশ্যে সুলতান কমপ্লেক্স (S M Sultan Complex) নির্মাণ করা হয়েছে। ২০০৩ সালে চিত্রা নদীর মনোরম প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশে প্রায় ২৭ একর জায়গা জুড়ে বিস্তৃত সুলতান কমপ্লেক্সের চারপাশ দুর্লভ প্রজাতির বিভিন্ন সবুজ বৃক্ষে ঢাকা। অজশ্র পাখির কলতান মুখর করে রাখে এই কমপ্লেক্সের সবুজ প্রকৃতির মাঝে শায়িত এস এম সুলতানের সমাধিস্থল। সুলতান কমপ্লেক্সের দ্বিতল আধুনিক ফটোগ্যালারিতে শিল্পীর চিত্রকর্ম ও ব্যবহৃত জিনিসপত্র সংরক্ষণ করে রাখা হয়েছে। প্রায় ৩৮ ফুট লম্বা আর্ট গ্যালারীতে সভ্যতার ক্রমবিকাশ, ধান মাড়াই, জমি কর্ষণ, গাঁতা চাষ সহ মোট ২৩টি ছবি রয়েছে। এস এম সুলতান শিশুদের ছবি আঁকা শিখানোর জন্য নদীতে বজরা নামের একটি “শিশু স্বর্গ” তৈরি করেছিলেন। বর্তমানে কমপ্লেক্স সংলগ্ন এলাকায় অবস্থিত শিশুস্বর্গে বাচ্চাদের ছবি আঁকা শেখানো হয়।
To preserve the memory of the world-renowned painter S. M. Sultan, the S M Sultan Complex was built in Mashimdia village, 12 kilometers away from Narail district headquarters. Established in 2003 in the scenic natural environment along the Chitra River, the Sultan Complex spans about 27 acres and is surrounded by various green trees of rare species. The chirping of countless birds fills the green nature surrounding the resting place of S. M. Sultan. The two-story modern photo gallery of the Sultan Complex preserves the artist’s paintings and personal belongings. The nearly 38-foot-long art gallery features a total of 23 paintings depicting human civilization, threshing paddy, plowing land, and digging soil. To teach children how to paint, S. M. Sultan had created a “Shishu Swargo” (Children’s Heaven) on a river barge. Currently, children are taught painting at the Shishu Swargo located in the area adjacent to the complex.
