The shrine of the famous Iranian Persian Sufi Bayazid Bostami (Shrine of Bayazid Bostami) is located on a hill in Nasirabad, Chattogram. The tomb was discovered in 1831 within a walled courtyard on top of the hill. Based on its architectural style, the tomb is believed to have been built during the reign of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. At that time, Sufi saints used to choose secluded hill or forest-encircled places to preach Islam, establishing shrines or various religious structures in such locations. According to legend, before leaving Chattogram after his travels, at the request of his devotees, Bayazid Bostami cut his little finger and marked the spot to build the shrine with a few drops of blood. The Shrine of Bayazid Bostami is essentially a replica built in dedication to Bayazid Bostami. The shrine has been renovated and modernized at various times.
