Siddheshwari Math is located on the banks of the Nabaganga River in Atharkhada village, under the Magura district headquarters. The distance from Magura town to Siddheshwari Math is about 3 kilometres. In the distant past, this place was known as Kalikatala Cremation Ground. History reveals that a math, an inscribed slab of Goddess Siddheshwari, and an idol of Kali were established at the Kalikatala Cremation Ground long ago. Built in antiquity, no information regarding the construction period or the builder of the Siddheshwari Temple is available. Situated amidst dense forests, this place was preferred by ascetics for meditation. Before the 17th century, pilgrims would travel along the Nabaganga River towards Kamakhya from the site of Siddheshwari Math, and at that time, Siddheshwari Math would resonate with the footsteps of saints and ascetics.
