Located in Muksudpur, 35 kilometers from Gopalganj district headquarters, Ujani Palace is a historical architectural landmark. With the passage of time, much of the palace’s ancient artistic heritage has been lost. Although the palace survives as a witness to the zamindari system, its beauty is on the verge of extinction due to a lack of proper restoration. During the British rule, two zamindars named Gobinda and Sur Narayan came from Jashore district and settled in Ujani village of Gopalganj. Later, they introduced the zamindari system over an area of about 50 hectares in Telihati Pargana and constructed several two-story and three-story palaces for administrative work. As part of that plan, an ornate zamindar house was built in Ujani, which is now known as Ujani Palace.
