নারায়ণগঞ্জ জেলা থেকে ৩৪ কিলোমিটার দূরে সোনারগাঁ উপজেলার বারদি বাজারের পশ্চিম-উত্তর কোণে শ্রী শ্রী লোকনাথ ব্রহ্মচারীর আশ্রম (Sri Sri Loknath Bramhachari Ashram) বা বারদী লোকনাথ আশ্রম অবস্থিত। ১৭৩০ সালের ৩১ আগস্ট পশ্চিমবঙ্গের ২৪ পরগনা জেলার বারাসাত থানার অন্তর্গত কচুয়া গ্রামে লোকনাথ ব্রহ্মচারী জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। তিনি পুঁথি বিদ্যা ত্যাগ করে সন্ন্যাস ব্রত গ্রহণ করে হিমালয়ে কঠোর যোগ সাধনা করেন। পরবর্তীতে মানুষের মাঝে জ্ঞান ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার উদ্দেশ্যে তিনি লোকালয়ে বের হয়ে আসেন। বিভিন্ন দেশ ঘুরে ১৮৬৩ সালে সোনারগাঁয়ে পৌঁছে লোকনাথ ব্রহ্মচারী বারদী গ্রামে প্রকৃতির নিবিড় সজীবতায় এই আশ্রম প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন। প্রায় ১৬০ বছর বয়সে ১৮৯০ সালের ১ জুন (১৯শে জ্যৈষ্ঠ) মহাপুরুষ লোকনাথ ব্রহ্মচারী শেষ নিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন। বারদী লোকনাথ আশ্রম জাতি-ধর্ম-বর্ণ নির্বিশেষে সকল মানুষের জন্য এক মিলন মেলা হিসেবে পরিচিত।
Sri Sri Loknath Bramhachari Ashram, also known as Barddi Loknath Ashram, is located in the north-west corner of Barddi Bazar in Sonargaon Upazila, 34 kilometers away from Narayanganj district. Loknath Brahmachari was born on August 31, 1730, in the village of Kachua under Barasat police station in the 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Abandoning bookish knowledge, he took the vow of asceticism and practiced rigorous yoga in the Himalayas. Later, he came out into human settlements with the aim of spreading knowledge among people. After traveling to various countries, Loknath Brahmachari reached Sonargaon in 1863 and established this ashram amidst the lush greenery of nature in Barddi village. At the age of nearly 160, the great saint Loknath Brahmachari breathed his last on June 1, 1890 (19th of Jyaistha). Barddi Loknath Ashram is known as a meeting place for people of all castes, religions, and creeds.
