Vater Vita is an archaeological site located in Tila village on the northern bank of the Fotki River, 14 kilometres away from Magura Sadar Upazila. It is believed that a Buddhist monastery was established in Tila village from around 321 BC, spanning from the third century of the Maurya Empire to the Gupta Empire period. At that time, a high place was constructed to the west of Tila village to operate a court of justice for administering the region and to punish criminals. Locally, this place became known as Chhotto Tila or Vater Vita. Although various parts of the country are flooded during floods, Tila village is never flooded. However, according to locals, a spiritual dervish built this mound, and for this reason, the place is considered a holy site.
