বাংলাদেশের দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম সেচ প্রকল্প মুহুরী প্রজেক্ট ( Muhuri Project ) ফেনীর সোনাগাজী উপজেলায় অবস্থিত। মুহুরী সেচ প্রকল্পকে ঘিরে করে গড়ে উঠা বাংলাদেশের প্রথম বায়ু বিদ্যুৎ কেন্দ্র এবং সর্ববৃহৎ মৎস্য জোন হিসেবেও মুহুরী প্রজেক্ট দেশব্যাপী সুপরিচিত। ১৯৭৭-৭৮ অর্থ বছরে মুহুরী সেচ প্রকল্পের কাজ শুরু হলেও ১৯৮৫-৮৬ অর্থবছরে ফেনী, মুহুরী এবং কালিদাস পাহালিয়া নদীর পানি প্রবাহকে নিয়ন্ত্রণের জন্য নির্মিত আড়ি বাঁধের নির্মাণ কাজ শেষ হয়। মুহুরী প্রজেক্টের সুফল হিসাবে ২০,১৯৪ হেক্টর এলাকা সরাসরি সেচ সুবিধার মধ্যে আসে।
The Muhuri Project, Bangladesh’s second-largest irrigation project, is located in Sonagazi Upazila of Feni. The Muhuri Project is well-known nationwide as it hosts Bangladesh’s first wind power plant and the largest fishery zone built around the Muhuri Irrigation Project. Work on the Muhuri Irrigation Project began in the 1977-78 fiscal year, and the construction of the cross-dam built to control the water flow of the Feni, Muhuri, and Kalidas Pahalia rivers was completed in the 1985-86 fiscal year. As a direct benefit of the Muhuri Project, 20,194 hectares of land came under direct irrigation facilities.
