To enjoy the Someshwari River and its beauty, you need to visit Durgapur upazila in Netrokona district. Originating from Simsangri in the Garo Hills of Meghalaya, India, the Someshwari River enters Durgapur. According to local lore, long ago this region was occupied by a man named Someshwar Pathak, and subsequently, the river became known as the Someshwari River after him. The Someshwari River reveals different types of beauty at different times of the year. Although the water level drops in winter, the ever-clear waters of the Someshwari seem to regain their youth in the monsoon. Although currently better known as a coal mine, the beauty of the Someshwari River has not diminished at all.
