Nandail Dighi is a historical pond located in Nandail village under Kalai upazila of Joypurhat district. Located 23 kilometres east of Joypurhat town, it is the largest pond in the district. About 1 kilometre long, Nandail Dighi covers an area of 59.4 acres. According to legend, Emperor Nandalal of the Maurya dynasty excavated the historical Nandail Dighi in 1610 to facilitate irrigation during the dry season and to meet the shortage of drinking water. Local people believe that it took only one night to excavate Nandail Dighi. Settlements have now been built around the pond, which was once rich in undulating hillocks and dense forests.
