Nidaria Mosjid is a nearly 300-year-old ancient Muslim architectural landmark located in Borobari of Panchgram Union, under Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila. Built with bricks, surki (brick dust mortar), and lime, the influence of Mughal architecture is prominently noticeable in this mosque. Nidaria Mosjid is 42 feet long and 16 feet wide. The upper part of the mosque features a row of three domes and four ornamented corner turrets. The combination of 3 doors and 12 minarets of varying sizes enhances the beauty of the main structure. In front of the mosque, there is a dochala (gabled-roof) room and a vast Eidgah field. Eid prayers and various Islamic events are organized in this field. According to a Persian inscription found at Nidaria Mosjid, the mosque was built in 1176 Hijri under the supervision of Mughal Subadar Masud Khan and his son Mansur Khan. Later, Subadar Mansur Khan donated an additional 10.56 acres of land for the mosque. According to local legend, since Subadar Mansur Khan did not have a beard, he had prayed that if a beard grew on his face, he would build a mosque. Later, when a beard grew on the Subadar’s face, he built this mosque to fulfill his promise. Because of his clean-shaven face (beardlessness), the mosque was named Nidaria in Persian.
