Sayed Nazrul Islam Bridge is an aesthetic bridge built over the Meghna River to ensure smooth road communication between Bhairab and Ashuganj. Construction of the bridge began in 1999 and was completed in 2002. Located on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway, this 1.2-kilometer long and 19.60-meter wide bridge features seven 110-meter spans and two 79.5-meter spans. The former name of the Sayed Nazrul Islam Bridge was the Bangladesh-UK Friendship Bridge, which was changed in 2010. However, the bridge is more commonly known to locals as the Bhairab Bridge. Standing on the bridge, visitors can enjoy the beauty of the Meghna River as well as witness the bustling activity of various watercraft and fishermen.
