বাংলাদেশের বাণিজ্যিক রাজধানী চট্টগ্রাম জেলার হাটহাজারী উপজেলার ফতেহপুর ইউনিয়নের জঙ্গল পশ্চিম-পট্টি মৌজায় ১৯৬৬ সালে চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় (University of Chittagong) প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। শহরের কোলাহল আর যান্ত্রিকতা থেকে দূরে সবুজ পাহাড়ে ঘেরা নৈসর্গিক প্রকৃতির চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ক্যাম্পাস যেন শিক্ষার্থীদের জ্ঞানের তীর্থক্ষেত্রের পাশাপাশি জীববৈচিত্রের এক সমৃদ্ধ লাইব্রেরী। বাংলাদেশের সর্ববৃহৎ চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মোট জমির পরিমাণ ১৭৫৪ একর। বর্তমানে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ১০টি অনুষদের অধীনে ৫৪টি বিভাগে সর্বমোট ২৭৮৩৯ জনের অধিক শিক্ষার্থী অধ্যয়নরত আছে। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে কর্মরত শিক্ষকের সংখ্যা ৮৭২ জন।
Established in 1966, the University of Chittagong is located in Jangal Paschim Potti mouza under Fatehpur union of Hathazari upazila in Chattogram district, the commercial capital of Bangladesh. Far from the noise and hustle of the city, the campus is surrounded by green hills and scenic nature, serving not only as a sanctuary of knowledge for students but also as a rich library of biodiversity. Being the largest university in Bangladesh, it spans a total area of 1,754 acres. Currently, more than 27,839 students are studying across 54 departments under 10 faculties. The number of faculty members working at the university is 872.
