Baro Shibaloy Temple (Baro Shibaloy Temple/12 Sib Temple’s) is located in Bel-Amla village on the bank of the Jamuna River, just 4 kilometers away from Joypurhat district headquarters. Although the exact history of the construction of the Baro Shibaloy Temple is not known, based on the wall paintings, patterned bricks, and the style of ornate terracotta plaques, it is estimated to be a structure built during the Sena period. King Ballal Sena is believed to be the founder of this temple due to his special devotion to Lord Shiva. Inside each of the 12 Shiva temples, there are depictions of Ganesha, inscriptions of “Om Namah Shivaya” and “Sri Ganeshay Devay Namah”, mythological scenes of various deities, and idols of Rama, Lakshmana, Sita, Hanuman, and Goddess Kali. A statue of Nandi is placed in the center of the temple courtyard. However, visiting devotees are most fascinated by the 12 spires or shrines of the Baro Shibaloy Temple.
