দুর্গাসাগর দিঘী ( Durga Sagar ) বরিশাল শহর থেকে মাত্র ১২ কিলোমিটার দূরে স্বরূপকাঠি – বরিশাল সড়কে মাধবপাশায় অবস্থিত। ১৭৮০ খৃষ্টাব্দে তৎকালীন রাজা শিব নারায়ণ এলাকাবাসীর পানির সংকট নিরসনের জন্য মাধবপাশায় একটি বৃহৎ দীঘি খনন করে তাঁর মা দুর্গা দেবীর নামানুসারে দিঘীটির দুর্গাসাগর নামকরণ করেন। ঐতিহাসিক এই দিঘীটির জলাভূমির আয়তন ২৭ একর এবং পাড় ও জমি সহ মোট আয়তন ৪৫.৪২ একর। বর্তমানে জেলা প্রশাসন দুর্গাসাগর দিঘী রক্ষণাবেক্ষণের দায়িত্ব পালন করছে। দুর্গাসাগর দিঘীর তিন দিকে ৩টি ঘাটলা এবং দিঘীর মাঝখানে একটি টিলা বা ছোট দ্বীপ রয়েছে। স্থানীয়দের কাছে এই দুর্গাসাগর মাধবপাশা দীঘি (Madhobpasha Dighi) নামেও ব্যাপক পরিচিত।
Durga Sagar is located in Madhabpasha on the Swarupkati–Barishal road, just 12 kilometers away from Barishal city. In 1780, the then King Shiva Narayan excavated a large pond in Madhabpasha to solve the water crisis of the local people and named it Durga Sagar after his mother, Goddess Durga. The historical pond has a water area of 27 acres and a total area of 45.42 acres including the banks and land. Currently, the district administration is responsible for the maintenance of Durga Sagar. There are 3 ghats on three sides of Durga Sagar and a mound or small island in the middle of the pond. To the locals, this Durga Sagar is also widely known as Madhabpasha Dighi.
