জমিদারি প্রথা বিলুপ্ত হয়ে গেছে অনেক আগেই তবু কালের সাক্ষী হয়ে মাথা তুলে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে কিশোরগঞ্জ জেলার হোসেনপুর উপজেলায় গোবিন্দপুর ইউনিয়নে অবস্থিত গাঙ্গাটিয়া জমিদার বাড়ি (Gangatia Jamidar Bari) । স্থানীয়দের কাছে এই বাড়িটি জমিদার বংশের বর্তমান উত্তরাধিকারী মানবেন্দ্র চক্রবর্তী চৌধুরীর নামানুসারে ‘মানব বাবুর বাড়ি’ (Manob Babur Bari) হিসাবে অধিক পরিচিত। প্রাচীন সভ্যতার নিদর্শন এই জমিদার বাড়িটি অষ্টাদশ শতকের গ্রীক স্থাপত্যকলা অনুযায়ী নির্মিত। কারুকার্যময় বাড়িটিতে রয়েছে কাচারিঘর, নহবতখানা, দরবারগৃহ ও মন্দির। এছাড়াও চর্তুদিক থেকে সুউচ্চ প্রাচীর দ্বারা পরিবেষ্টিত গাঙ্গাটিয়া জমিদার বাড়িতে রয়েছে পুকুর ও সবুজে ঢাকা সুবিশাল আঙ্গিনা। কাছারিঘরটি ছাড়া অন্য সমস্ত স্থাপনাই আজ প্রায় ধ্বংস প্রাপ্ত তবুও প্রাচীন স্থাপত্যের নির্মাণ শৈলী দেখতে প্রতি বছর দূর-দূরান্ত থেকে বিভিন্ন শ্রেনী পেশার মানুষ এই জমিদার বাড়ি দেখতে আসেন।
The zamindari system was abolished long ago, yet the Gangatia Jamidar Bari (Gangatia Jamidar Bari) located in Gobindpur Union of Hossainpur Upazila in Kishoreganj district stands tall as a silent witness to time. Locally, this mansion is better known as ‘Manob Babur Bari’ (Manob Babur Bari) after Manabendra Chakraborty Chowdhury, the current heir of the zamindar family. Built in the 18th-century Greek architectural style, this ancient architectural relic features an ornate kachari house, a nahabatkhana (music pavilion), a durbar hall, and a temple. Surrounded by high walls on all sides, Gangatia Jamidar Bari also features a pond and a vast green courtyard. Except for the kachari house, almost all other structures are now nearly ruined, yet people from various professions and distant places visit this zamindar house every year to admire the ancient architectural style.
