The historic Golakata Mosjid is located in Barabazar Union, 30 kilometers away from Jhenaidah district headquarters. It is one of the 19 Sultanate-era mosques discovered through excavation in Kaliganj. In the 1990s, the Department of Archaeology of Bangladesh excavated the earthen mound to recover and restore the ruins of the Golakata Mosque. It is believed that this mosque was built in the 16th century during the reign of Khan Jahan Ali. Currently, this mosque is also well known as the Golakata Dighi Dhibi Mosque. Featuring 6 domes, the walls of the Golakata Mosque are 25 feet high and 5 feet wide. Built on 4 hexagonal pillars, the square-shaped mosque has 3 terracotta entrances with pointed arches. Inside the mosque, there are 3 ornamented semicircular terracotta mihrabs and two touchstone minars 8 feet in height.
