Harishchandra Path is the name of the ruins of an ancient royal palace located in Khutamara Union under Jaldhaka Upazila of Nilphamari District. Situated on about one bigha of land on the southern bank of the Charal Kata River, the site, surrounded by 5 large black stone slabs, looks like a high mound of earth from a distance. At one time the height of the mound was 50-60 feet, but with the change of time, the height has decreased to 10 feet. Although it is commonly believed that the stones sink under the soil of the mound and float up again. Many folk songs and jatra plays have been written about the philanthropic King Harishchandra. Before his death, King Harishchandra started the construction of a Shiva temple at this place, but could not finish it. After his death, the work of the temple was completed by the initiative of the local Hindu community. In ancient times there were several idols here, which are no longer there.
