Captivated by the beauty of the Rupsa River in Khulna, poet Jibanananda Das wrote, “Perhaps a young boy rows a dinghy with a white torn sail in the muddy waters of the Rupsa; swimming across the crimson clouds, he returns home in the dark.” Built over that very Rupsa River of Jibanananda’s poems is the Khan Jahan Ali Bridge, more popularly known as the Rupsa Bridge. Serving as the gateway to Khulna city by establishing road connectivity with all southern districts and the Mongla Sea Port, the Rupsa Bridge, constructed with Japanese assistance, has become a wonderful sightseeing spot for the residents of Khulna during all festivals and weekends.
