টক-মিষ্টি স্বাদের লটকন (Lotkon) কম-বেশি সবারই পছন্দের একটি ফল। আর লটকনের জন্য নরসিংদী জেলার রয়েছে দেশজোড়া খ্যাতি। নরসিংদীর শিবপুর ও মরজাল উপজেলায় বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে বেশি লটকনের আবাদ হয়ে থাকে। শিবপুর উপজেলার ছোটাবান্দা গ্রামের রাস্তার দুই পাশের অসংখ্য ছোট বড় লটকন বাগান নজরে পড়ে। বাগানের গাছগুলোর গোড়া থেকে শুরু করে শাখা প্রশাখা ও উপশাখা জুড়ে ঝুলতে থাকে থোকা থোকা হাজারো পাকা লটকন। তবে কোন বাগানে ঢোকার আগে অবশ্যই মালিকের অনুমতি নিতে হবে। অধিকাংশ বাগানের মালিক খুবই আন্তরিক এবং দর্শনার্থীদের আগ্রহ নিয়ে নিজেদের বাগান ঘুরে দেখায়। তাই বাগানের মালিকের সাথে কথা বলে নিজ হাতে গাছ থেকে পেড়ে লটকন খেতে পারবেন।
The sweet and sour fruit Lotkon (bcaura/burdekin plum) is a favourite of almost everyone. Narsingdi district is famous nationwide for its Lotkon. The highest production of Lotkon in Bangladesh takes place in Shibpur and Morjal upazilas of Narsingdi. Countless large and small Lotkon orchards can be seen on both sides of the road in Chhotabanda village of Shibpur upazila. Thousands of ripe Lotkons hang in clusters from the base of the trees to their branches and sub-branches. However, you must take the owner’s permission before entering any orchard. Most orchard owners are very cordial and take visitors around their orchards with interest. Therefore, you can talk to the owner of the orchard and pick Lotkon from the trees with your own hands and eat them.
