বাংলাদেশের একমাত্র দ্বীপ জেলা ভোলায় নির্মাণ করা হয়েছে দক্ষিণাঞ্চলের সর্ববৃহৎ অত্যাধুনিক মসজিদ নিজাম হাসিনা মসজিদ (Nizam Hasina Mosque)। ভোলা শহরের উকিল পাড়া নামক স্থানে প্রায় দেড় একর জমির উপর দ্বিতল এই মসজিদটি স্থাপন করেছে নিজাম-হাসিনা ফাউন্ডেশন। দৃষ্টিনন্দন কারুকাজ সম্বলিত অপূর্ব এই নিজাম হাসিনা মসজিদ নির্মাণে বিভিন্ন রঙয়ের মার্বেল পাথর ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে। নিজাম হাসিনা মসজিদে রয়েছে পুরুষ ও নারীদের জন্য পৃথক অজুখানা এবং নামাজের আদায়ের স্থান। এই মসজিদে প্রায় দুই হাজার মুসল্লির একত্রে নামায আদায়ের সুযোগ রয়েছে। ২০১০ সালের জুন মাসে মসজিদের ভিত্তিপ্রস্থর স্থাপন করা হয় এবং ২০১৬ সালে ৩০ ডিসেম্বর রোজ শুক্রবার নিজাম হাসিনা মসজিদটি নিয়মিত নামায আদায়ের উদ্দেশ্যে উদ্বোধন করা হয়।
Nizam Hasina Mosque, the largest and most modern mosque in the southern region, has been built in Bhola, Bangladesh’s only island district. The Nizam-Hasina Foundation established this two-story mosque on about 1.5 acres of land in the Ukil Para area of Bhola town. Various colors of marble stone were used in constructing this magnificent Nizam Hasina Mosque, which features eye-catching craftsmanship. The mosque has separate ablution areas and prayer spaces for men and women. It can accommodate about 2,000 worshippers for congregational prayers at the same time. The foundation stone of the mosque was laid in June 2010, and it was inaugurated for regular prayers on Friday, December 30, 2016.
