রাজধানী ঢাকার শেরে বাংলা নগরে অবস্থিত জাতীয় সংসদ ভবন ( National Parliament House ) বাংলাদেশের স্থাপত্য শিল্পের একটি অনন্য নিদের্শন। ১৯৬১ সালে সংসদ ভবনের নির্মাণ কাজ শুরু হলেও তা ১৯৮২ সালে শেষ হয়। স্থপতি লুই আই কানের নকশায় নির্মিত জাতীয় সংসদ ভবনের মাঝখানে রয়েছে প্রধান হল। প্রধান হলে সংসদ সদস্যগণ পার্লামেন্টের কাজ করেন। মূল হল রুমকে কেন্দ্র করে জাতীয় সংসদ ভবনের অন্যান্ন অংশগুলো নির্মাণ করা হয়েছে। সংসদ ভবন নয়তলা বিশিষ্ট হলেও মাত্র তিনটি তলার সাথে অনুভূমিক যোগাযোগ রয়েছে এবং মাটির উপরের কাঠামোর উচ্চতা ৪৯.৬৮ মিটার।
Located in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar of the capital city Dhaka, the National Parliament House is a unique masterpiece of Bangladeshi architecture. Although construction of the parliament building began in 1961, it was completed in 1982. Designed by architect Louis I. Kahn, the National Parliament House has the main hall at its center. The members of parliament conduct parliamentary proceedings in the main hall. The other parts of the National Parliament House are constructed around the central hall. Although the parliament building has nine stories, horizontal circulation exists across only three levels, and the height of the superstructure above ground is 49.68 meters.
