গোপালগঞ্জ জেলা সদর থেকে মাত্র ১৯ কিলোমিটার দূরে টুঙ্গীপাড়া গ্রামে স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশের প্রবাদপুরুষ সর্বকালের সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ বাঙালি শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের সমাধি সৌধটি (Mausoleum of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman) অবস্থিত। বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান ১৯২০ সালের ১৭ মার্চ টুঙ্গীপাড়া গ্রামে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। আর ১৯৭৫ সালের ১৫ আগস্ট ঘাতকের বুলেটে বঙ্গবন্ধুর আন্দোলন-সংগ্রাম-ময় বর্ণাঢ্য জীবনের অবসান ঘটে। বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের মরদেহ পারিবারিক কবরস্থানে তাঁর মা-বাবার কবরের পাশে সমাহিত করা হয়।
The Mausoleum of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the legendary figure of independent Bangladesh and the greatest Bengali of all time, is located in Tungipara village, just 19 kilometers from the Gopalganj district headquarters. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born in Tungipara village on March 17, 1920. On August 15, 1975, his eventful life filled with struggles and movements was cut short by the bullets of assassins. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s body was buried in the family graveyard beside the graves of his parents.
