খুলনা জেলার নৈসর্গিক প্রকৃতির শোভা সুন্দরবনে অবস্থিত একটি দ্বীপের নাম পুটনী দ্বীপ বা পুটনী আইল্যান্ড (Putney Island)। স্থানীয় বাসীন্দাদের কাছে এর অন্য নাম দ্বীপচর। একপাশে দিগন্ত জোড়া সমুদ্র আর অন্যপাশে ঘন বনাঞ্চল এরই মাঝ দিয়ে আছে সবুজ ঘাসের প্রান্তর এবং আঁকাবাঁকা খাল। এক কথায় পুটনি আইল্যান্ড অপূর্ব। জোয়ার ভাটার সাথে সাথে পুরো এলাকা একবার ভাসমান থাকে আর আরেকবার দেখা মিলে ধু ধু বালুচর। শেষ বিকেলের সূর্য এখানে অস্ত যায় আড়পাঙ্গাসিয়া নদী এবং বঙ্গোপসাগরের মোহনায়।
Putney Island is an island located in the Sundarbans, the scenic nature of Khulna district. To the local residents, its other name is Dwipchor. With the endless sea on one side and dense forest on the other, there are green grassy meadows and meandering canals in between. In a word, Putney Island is exquisite. With the tide and ebb, the entire area floats at one time and vast sandy beaches appear at another. The late afternoon sun sets here at the confluence of the Arpangasia River and the Bay of Bengal.
