তেওতা জমিদার বাড়ি (Teota Zamindar Bari) বিদ্রোহী কবি কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম ও তাঁর প্রিয়তমা স্ত্রী প্রমীলা দেবীর স্মৃতি বিজড়িত একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্থান। মানিকগঞ্জের (Manikganj) শিবালয় উপজেলার তেওতা জমিদার বাড়িতে কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম প্রমীলা দেবীর রূপে মুগ্ধ হয়ে লিখেছিলেন ‘তুমি সুন্দর তাই চেয়ে থাকি প্রিয়/সেকি মোর অপরাধ’। কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম ও প্রমীলা দেবীর প্রেমের স্মৃতির সাক্ষী তেওতা জমিদার বাড়ির পাশেই ছিল প্রমীলা দেবীর পিতার বাড়ি। প্রমীলা দেবীর পিতা বসন্ত সেনের ভ্রাতুষপুত্র বীরেন সেনের সঙ্গে কবির সখ্যতার কারণে কবি তাঁদের বাড়িতে অবাধ যাতায়াত করতে পারতেন। লোকমুখে প্রচলিত তেওতা জমিদার বাড়িটির বয়স প্রায় ৩০০ বছর। মানিকগঞ্জ জেলার ইতিহাস থেকে পাওয়া তথ্য মতে, সপ্তদশ শতকের শুরুতে পাচুসেন নামের দরিদ্র কিশোর তামাকের ব্যবসায় বিপুল অর্থ-সম্পদ অর্জন করে দিনাজপুরের জয়গঞ্জে জমিদারী কিনে পঞ্চানন সেন নামে পরিচিতি লাভ করে। সেসময় মানিকগঞ্জের শিবালয়ের তেওতায় এই জমিদার বাড়ি নির্মাণ করেন।
Teota Zamindar Bari is an important historical site associated with the rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and his beloved wife, Promila Debi. While staying at the Teota Zamindar Bari in Shibalaya upazila of Manikganj, Kazi Nazrul Islam, captivated by the beauty of Promila Debi, wrote the lines: “Tumi sundar tai cheye thaki priyo/Se ki mor aparadh” (You are beautiful, so I gaze upon you, my dear/Is that my crime?). Adjacent to Teota Zamindar Bari, which bears witness to the romance between Kazi Nazrul Islam and Promila Debi, was the home of Promila Debi’s father. Because of the poet’s friendship with Biren Sen, the nephew of Promila’s father Basanta Sen, the poet had free access to their home. According to local lore, Teota Zamindar Bari is nearly 300 years old. Information from the history of Manikganj district indicates that in the early 17th century, a poor teenager named Pachusen amassed vast wealth through the tobacco business, purchased an estate in Joyganj, Dinajpur, and became known as Panchanan Sen. He built this zamindar house in Teota, Shibalaya, Manikganj at that time.
