Choto Sona Mosque, often called a gem of Sultanate architecture, is located in Shahbazpur Union of Shibganj Upazila in Chapainawabganj District of Rajshahi Division. An inscription placed above the main entrance of Choto Sona Mosque states that Mansoor Wali Muhammad bin Ali built it during the reign of Sultan Hussain Shah between 1493 and 1519. It is commonly believed that the domes of the mosque were once covered in gold, which is why it came to be known as the Sona Mosque. Since there is another larger Sona Mosque across the border in India, this mosque became widely famous as the Choto Sona Mosque. The front courtyard of the mosque extends 42 meters from west to east and 43.5 meters from south to north.
