মধুপুর জাতীয় উদ্যান বাংলাদেশের জীববৈচিত্র্যের অন্যতম আকর্ষণ। মধুপুর জাতীয় উদ্যান (Madhupur National Park) ঢাকা থেকে প্রায় ১২৫ কিলোমিটার দূরত্বে টাঙ্গাইলে মধুপুর উপজেলায় অবস্থিত। টাঙ্গাইল জেলা থেকে মধুপুর উদ্যানের দূরত্ব প্রায় ৪৭ কিলোমিটার। শাল গাছ এই বনের প্রধান আকর্ষণ এবং ধারণা করা হয় এই বনাঞ্চল কয়েক’শ বছরের পুরাতন। মধুপুর জাতীয় উদ্যানটি ১৯৬২ সালে বন বিভাগের আওতাধীন আসে এবং ১৯৭৪ সালের বন্যপ্রাণী আইনের অধীনে বাংলাদেশ সরকার ১৯৮২ সালে মধুপুর বনকে জাতীয় উদ্যান হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি প্রদান করে। জাতীয় মধুপুর উদ্যানের আয়তন প্রায় ৮৪,৩৬৬ হেক্টর। উদ্যানের পাশ দিয়ে প্রবাহমান বংশী নদী উদ্যানকে দিয়েছে ভিন্নমাত্র। জাতীয় এ উদ্যানের ভেতরে এবং বাইরে দেখা মিলে গারো, কোচ, বামনসহ বিভিন্ন আদিবাসী সম্প্রদায়ের।
Madhupur National Park is one of the major attractions of Bangladesh’s biodiversity. Madhupur National Park is located in Madhupur upazila of Tangail, about 125 kilometres away from Dhaka. The distance of Madhupur Park from Tangail district is about 47 kilometres. Sal trees are the main attraction of this forest and it is believed that this forest is several hundred years old. Madhupur National Park came under the forest department in 1962 and the government of Bangladesh recognised the Madhupur forest as a national park in 1982 under the Wildlife Act of 1974. The area of Madhupur National Park is about 84,366 hectares. The Bangshi river flowing past the park gives it a different dimension. Inside and outside this national park, various indigenous communities such as Garo, Koch, and Baman can be seen.
