‘পান্থুমাই’ বাংলাদেশ-ভারত সীমান্তবর্তী অঞ্চলে অবস্থিত মেঘালয় পাহাড়ের কোল ঘেঁষা একটি অপূর্ব গ্রামের নাম। সিলেটের গোয়াইনঘাট উপজেলার পশ্চিম জাফলং ইউনিয়নের এই গ্রাম বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে সুন্দর গ্রামগুলোর মধ্যে অন্যতম। মেঘালয় পাহাড় আর পিয়াইন নদীর পাড়ে অবস্থিত এই গ্রামেই আছে প্রকৃতির আরেক অপরূপ নিদর্শন পান্থুমাই ঝর্ণা (Panthumai Waterfall)। স্থানীয় মানুষের কাছে পান্থুমাই ঝর্ণা বিভিন্ন নামে পরিচিত। কেউ একে বলেন ‘ফাটাছড়ির ঝর্ণা’ আবার কেউবা ডাকেন ‘বড়হিল ঝর্ণা’, আর কারো চোখে এটি ‘মায়াবতী’!
‘Panthumai’ is a stunning village nestled against the Meghalaya hills in the Bangladesh-India border region. Located in Paschim Jaintiapur Union of Gowainghat Upazila in Sylhet, this village is one of the most beautiful in Bangladesh. Situated by the Meghalaya hills and the Piyain River, the village is home to another magnificent wonder of nature: the Panthumai Waterfall. Locally, the Panthumai Waterfall is known by various names. Some call it ‘Fatachhari Waterfall’, others call it ‘Barahill Waterfall’, and to some, it is ‘Mayabati’!
