Located just half a kilometer away from the Choto Sona Mosque in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district, Hazrat Shah Niyamatullah’s Shrine within the Tahakhana complex is well-known as an ancient specimen of Mughal architecture. Hazrat Shah Syed Niyamatullah (R) was one of the renowned saints of the sixteenth century. He was a descendant of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and served concurrently as a hereditary wali, Islamic scholar, and spiritual guide. During the reign of Sultan Shah Shuja, he traveled from Koronia in Delhi and arrived at Rajmahal in Firozpur. The Sultan of Bengal, Shah Shuja, welcomed him with great respect and took bay’ah from him. Later, he established a permanent abode on the outskirts of Gaur in Firozpur and preached Islam with great renown for 33 years. After passing away in the year 1075 or, according to another opinion, 1080 Hijri, he was laid to rest at this site.
