ঢাকা জেলার অন্তর্গত সাভার উপজেলায় ১৯৭০ সালে মনোমুগ্ধকর প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশে জাহাঙ্গীরনগর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় (Jahangirnagar University) স্থাপন করা হয়েছে৷ সমগ্র বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এলাকার আয়তন প্রায় ৬৯৭.৫৬ একর। এটি বাংলাদেশের একমাত্র পূর্ণাঙ্গ আবাসিক বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় হিসেবে সুপরিচিত। জীব বৈচিত্রে অন্যোন্য জাহাঙ্গীরনগর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রায় ৩০০ একর জায়গা জুড়ে আছে প্রজাপতি গার্ডেন (Butterfly Garden)৷ এখানে বিভিন্ন জাতের ফুলের বাগানে ঘুরে প্রায় ১১০ প্রজাতির প্রজাপতি সৌন্দর্য উপভোগের পাশাপাশি এদের সম্পর্কে জ্ঞানার্জন করার সুযোগ আছে। এই বাগানে প্রাকৃতিক ও কৃত্রিম প্রজননের মাধ্যমে আরো নতুন নতুন প্রজাপতি উৎপাদন করে বাগানে ছাড়া হয়।
Established in 1970 in a captivating natural setting in Savar Upazila of Dhaka District, Jahangirnagar University spans an area of approximately 697.56 acres. It is well-known as Bangladesh’s only fully residential university. Rich in biodiversity, the university features a Butterfly Garden spread across nearly 300 acres. Here, visitors can wander through various flower gardens to enjoy the beauty of around 110 species of butterflies and learn about them. New butterflies are produced and released into the garden through natural and artificial breeding.
