চট্টগ্রাম জেলার শাহ আমানত বিমানবন্দর ও পতেঙ্গা সমুদ্র সৈকত সংলগ্ন পতেঙ্গা নেভাল একাডেমির ১৫ নম্বর রোডে প্রায় ৬ একর জায়গা জুড়ে দেশের প্রথম প্রজাপতি পার্ক (Butterfly Park Bangladesh) গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে। ইন্ট্রাকো গ্রুপের এই উদ্যোগটি ২০০৯ সালে নেওয়া হলেও ২০১২ সালের অক্টোবর মাসে প্রজাপতি পার্ক আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে যাত্রা শুরু করে। এই পার্কে প্রায় ২০০ প্রজাতির এক হাজারেরও বেশি প্রজাপতি রয়েছে। এছাড়া এখানে বিশেষজ্ঞদের মাধ্যমে কৃত্রিম প্রজনন করানো হয়। মার্চ থেকে আগস্ট/সেপ্টেম্বর মাস প্রজাপতির স্বাভাবিক প্রজননের উপযুক্ত সময় হলেও শীতকালেও বিশেষ ব্যবস্থাপনায় প্রজাপতির বংশবিস্তার ও প্রদর্শনী অব্যাহত রাখা হয়।
The country’s first butterfly park, Butterfly Park Bangladesh, has been established across approximately 6 acres of land on Road 15 of the Patenga Naval Academy, adjacent to Shah Amanat International Airport and Patenga Sea Beach in Chattogram District. Although this initiative by the Intraco Group was undertaken in 2009, the butterfly park officially began its journey in October 2012. This park is home to more than a thousand butterflies belonging to around 200 species. In addition, artificial breeding is carried out here by experts. While March to August/September is the suitable period for the natural breeding of butterflies, the breeding and exhibition of butterflies continue even during winter through special arrangements.
