শহীদ জননী জাহানারা ইমাম ছিলেন একাধারে শিক্ষাবিদ, লেখিকা, কথা সাহিত্যিক ও একাত্তরের ঘাতক দালাল বিরোধী আন্দোলনের নেত্রী। একাত্তরের স্মৃতি কথা নিয়ে তাঁর উল্লেখযোগ্য গ্রন্থ “একাত্তরের দিনগুলি” দেশ জুড়ে পাঠক নন্দিত। জাহানারা ইমাম ও তাঁর ছেলে শহীদ রুমির স্মৃতি সংরক্ষণে এলিফ্যান্ট রোডে নিজ বাড়ীতে গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে শহীদ জননী জাহানার ইমাম স্মৃতি জাদুঘর। তরুন প্রজন্মকে মহীয়সী নারী জাহানারা ইমামমের বিভিন্ন সংগ্রাম ও আত্নত্যাগের কথা জানানোর উদ্দ্যেশে জাহানারা ইমামের ছোট ছেলে সাইফ ইমাম জামি ২০০৭ সালে সম্পূর্ন ব্যক্তিগত উদ্যোগে জাদুঘরটি গড়ে তুলেন।
Shaheed Janani Jahanara Imam was an educator, writer, novelist, and leader of the movement against the killers and collaborators of 1971. Her notable book on the memories of 1971, ‘Ekattorer Dinguli’, is widely acclaimed by readers across the country. To preserve the memories of Jahanara Imam and her son Shaheed Rumi, the Shaheed Janani Jahanara Imam Memorial Museum has been established in her own house on Elephant Road. Jahanara Imam’s youngest son, Saif Imam Jami, established the museum in 2007 on his own initiative with the aim of informing the younger generation about the various struggles and sacrifices of the great woman Jahanara Imam.
