বাংলা সাহিত্যের জনপ্রিয় মহাকাব্যিক উপন্যাস বিষাদ সিন্ধু’র রচয়িতা মীর মশাররফ হোসেন ১৮৪৭ সালের ১৩ ই নভেম্বর কুষ্টিয়ার লাহিনীপাড়া গ্রামে তাঁর মামার বাড়িতে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। মীর মশাররফ হোসেনের পিতা মীর মোয়াজ্জ্বেম হোসেন রাজবাড়ী জেলার বালিয়াকান্দি উপজেলার নবাবপুর ইউনিয়নের পদমদী গ্রামে বাস করতেন। জানা যায় মীর মশাররফ হোসেনের পূর্বপুরুষ সৈয়দ সাদুল্লাহ বাগদাদ থেকে প্রথমে দিল্লী এবং পরবর্তীতে ফরিদপুর জেলার স্যাকরা গ্রামে এসে বসবাস শুরু করেন।

Mir Mosharraf Hossain, the author of Bishad Sindhu, the popular epic novel of Bengali literature, was born on 13 November 1847 at his maternal uncle’s home in the village of Lahinipara, Kushtia. Mir Mosharraf Hossain’s father, Mir Moazzem Hossain, lived in the village of Padmadi under Nawabpur Union in Baliakandi Upazila of Rajbari District. It is known that Mir Mosharraf Hossain’s ancestor, Syed Sadullah, first came to Delhi from Baghdad and later started living in the village of Sekra in Faridpur District.
