Noakhali Zilla Jame Mosque is one of the main mosques located in the heart of Noakhali town. This uniquely beautiful structure is known to locals as Maijdee Boro Masjid. In 1841, a merchant named Imam Uddin established the Noakhali Zilla Jame Mosque on his own land in the old town of Noakhali. Along with the main town of Noakhali, this mosque was eventually swallowed by the Meghna River. Later, when the main town of Noakhali was relocated to Maijdee, the Noakhali Zilla Jame Mosque was rebuilt in 1950 with financial assistance from various institutions and individuals.
