Located just 6 kilometers from Mymensingh city near the Bangladesh Agricultural University, the delta that has emerged in the Brahmaputra River is known as Moynar Char or Moyna Deep (Moyna Deep). With clear waters playing on one side and a vast commercially cultivated lemon orchard on the other, the shady and tranquil Moyna Deep presents a treasure trove of beauty. It is said that Moyna Miah, an activist in the anti-British movement, lived here. In his spare time, he would sit under a tree and play the flute. Hearing the sweet melody of the flute, many people used to come to visit Moyna Miah. Moyna Miah would teach them various ways to drive away the British. Thus, by word of mouth, this char gradually became known as Moyna Char or Moyna Deep. According to others, at one time a large number of myna birds lived on this char, which is how it got its name.
