মিঠামইন (Mithamoin) কিশোরগঞ্জ জেলার একটি উপজেলা। মিঠামইন এর উত্তরে ইটনা ও আজমিরিগঞ্জ উপজেলা, দক্ষিণে অষ্টগ্রাম উপজেলা, পূর্বে বানিয়াচং ও অষ্টগ্রাম, পশ্চিমে করিমগঞ্জ ও নিকলী উপজেলা। হাওর এলাকা হলেও এটি একটি প্রাচীন জনপদ। মিঠামইনকে অন্যান্য নামেও ডাকা হয় তার মধ্যে মিঠামন, মিটামইন বা মিটামন বলে উচ্চারণ করে থাকেন। নামের উৎস নিয়ে যে মত আছে তার একটি হলো গ্রামের পাশ্ববর্তী এলাকায় এক সময় প্রচুর মিষ্টি বা মিঠা রসের খাগড়া গাছের বন ছিল। এই খাগড়ার বন থেকে মিঠাবন এবং সেখান থেকে মিঠামন বা মিঠামইন হয়েছে।
Mithamoin is an upazila of Kishoreganj district. It is bordered by Itna and Ajmiriganj upazilas to the north, Austagram upazila to the south, Baniachang and Austagram to the east, and Karimganj and Nikli upazilas to the west. Although it is a haor area, it is an ancient settlement. Mithamoin is also called by other names such as Mithaman, Mitamain, or Mitaman. One of the theories regarding the origin of the name is that there was once a dense forest of sweet-juiced khagra reeds in the areas adjacent to the village. From this khagra forest, it became Mithabon, and eventually Mithaman or Mithamoin.
